THE question every sim golfer has

009 / Filming Playbook

iPhone-only setup.
~$75 total.

Essential Gear

  • iPhone — Shoot 4K/60fps for slow-mo. Lock exposure before each shot (tap & hold).
  • Tripod with phone mount ($15–25) — Non-negotiable. Hands-free filming for every angle.
  • Flexible mini tripod ($20) — Joby GorillaPod or similar. Low angles, creative placements.
  • Small LED panel ($20–30) — Warm light (3200–4000K). Sim rooms are dark; one light changes everything.

Camera Settings

  • 60fps for swing shots (slow-mo flexibility)
  • 24fps for talking head (cinematic feel)
  • Always shoot 9:16 vertical
  • Reduce sim screen brightness 10–20% to prevent blowout

The 4-Angle System

1. FRONT — Face + Swing

Chest height, 6–8 ft in front. Reactions, reveals, talking head.

2. SIDE — Mechanics

Hip height, 8–10 ft trail side. Swing analysis, before/after.

3. BEHIND — Ball POV

Knee height, 6 ft behind. Aesthetic, ASMR, screen capture.

4. SCREEN — Stats Capture

Phone facing monitor directly. Data overlays, distance reveals.

Pro tip: Run one phone on side angle for the full session. Reposition a second phone for specific shots from other angles.

010 / Filming Playbook

Lighting & audio
make the difference.

Lighting Setup

  • One LED panel at 45° from front angle, slightly above eye level. This is your key light.
  • Sim screen = natural backlight. Creates a rim light effect. Lean into it for aesthetic content.
  • For ASMR/night content: Turn OFF extra light. Screen glow only. This creates the moody look that performs.
  • Kill overhead fluorescents. They wash out skin tones and cause screen glare.
  • Color temp: warm (3200–4000K). Cool/blue reads as clinical, not aspirational.

Audio Strategy

  • Talking head: AirPods Pro as mic. Position one near mouth. Free and 10x better than phone mic at distance.
  • ASMR/swing sounds: Built-in phone mic, 3–4 ft from hitting area. Closer = better impact sound.
  • Voiceover: Record separately in quiet space. Voice Memos app. Layer in CapCut.
  • Music: Always trending sounds. Add in TikTok/IG at posting time — algorithm favors native audio.
  • Don't talk over trending audio — use text overlays. The sound brings people via the sound page.
Stat reveal tip: Film the moment stats appear on screen. The pause before the number shows is your dramatic moment. Never cut to stats already displayed.

The 3-Second Rule

TikTok tests your video on 200–500 people first. If they don't stay past 3 seconds, it dies. Every hook must create an open loop.

Hook Formulas

  • Question: "Can I break 80 with only 3 clubs?"
  • Tension: "This shot almost broke my simulator."
  • Envy: "I have a private sim nobody knows about."
  • Challenge: "Closest to pin, loser buys dinner."

Daily Comment Routine (15 min)

  • Reply to every comment in first 60 minutes
  • Ask follow-ups: "What club would you use?"
  • Pin the most controversial comment
  • Leave specific comments on other golf creators' posts

CTA Tiers (Never Feel Forced)

TIER 1 — PASSIVE (Every Video)

Tee Pee Golf hat visible in every shot. @teepeegolfclub in bio. Website in link.

TIER 2 — SOFT (2–3x/Week)

"This is why I'm building Tee Pee Golf — so people can connect over golf like this."

TIER 3 — DIRECT (1x/Week Max)

"Puerto Rico. September 2026. Link in bio if you're about it."

DM Script: "Appreciate you! We're putting together a golf trip to Puerto Rico this fall — would love to have you. All the details are at teepeegolfclub.com. What courses have you played?"

The question at the end keeps the convo going. Conversions happen in DMs, not in feed posts.

012 / Stories & Platform Tactics

Stories drive top-of-feed
visibility.

Instagram Stories (3–5 daily)

  • Quick clips from sim sessions — raw, unedited
  • Question sticker: "What course should I play next?"
  • Poll sticker: "Can I break 80 this week? Yes / No way"
  • Interactive stickers get 2–3x more reach
  • Keep you at the front of followers' Stories bar

Profile Optimization

  • Bio: "Building a golf community from my apartment simulator | Puerto Rico 2026"
  • Link: teepeegolfclub.com
  • Pinned posts: Best transformation, Pull Up & Play debut, trip tease

TikTok (Primary Growth Engine)

  • Post here first — algorithm favors new/small accounts more than IG
  • TikTok-native effects and trending sounds
  • Longer form (2–5 min) getting pushed now
  • Duet and stitch other golf creators

Instagram Reels (Brand Home)

  • Repost TikTok content 3–5 days later
  • Swap to trending IG audio (check weekly)
  • Sound viral on TikTok + fewer than 5K IG Reels = your window
  • IG content should feel slightly more polished

013 / Community Strategy

From neighbors to
golf network.

Phase 1: Curious Neighbor

Weeks 1–2

  • Mention the sim casually in common areas
  • Say yes to everyone who wants to try
  • Film everyone's first swing (with permission)
  • Their genuine reactions ARE the content

Phase 2: Open Invite

Weeks 3–4

  • Post a flyer: "Free Golf Night — Thursday 7 PM"
  • Film as a "Pull Up & Play" episode
  • Brand the experience: orange Tee Pee Golf balls, hat, small sign
  • Create a group chat for attendees

Phase 3: Building League

Month 2+

  • Weekly 9-hole closest-to-par competition
  • Track scores on whiteboard
  • Regulars become recognizable characters
  • Name it: "The Tee Pee Golf Indoor League"

Build Recurring Characters

"The Natural"

Picks it up fast. Viewers root for them. Track their rapid improvement.

"The Grinder"

Terrible but keeps showing up. Most relatable character. Fan favorite.

"The Ringer"

Secretly really good. Surprise factor. Creates upset moments in competitions.

"The Skeptic"

Says golf is boring but keeps coming back. Redemption arc content.

014 / Community Strategy

Sim → real course →
Tee Pee Golf trip.

Local Network Playbook

  • Week 4–6: Organize first group outing to a real course. Film the "Sim to Real" transition — massive content moment.
  • Brand it: Tee Pee Golf hats, orange balls on the real course. This IS proof of concept.
  • Group chat: "Tee Pee Golf [City] — Sim Sessions + Tee Times." This becomes your first real community.
  • These people = first Puerto Rico trip prospects. The sim built the trust before any pitch.

Local Course Partnerships

  • Reach out to 2–3 nearby courses: "I'm building a golf community and bringing new golfers out."
  • Ask for group rates (8–12 people). Film content. Tag the course.
  • Courses share your content → free reach to their audience.
  • Positions Tee Pee Golf as a community organizer. Which is exactly the brand.

The Pipeline Visualized

STAGE 2

015 / Trends & Research

What's working in
golf content right now.

Top Performing Formats (March 2026)

1. Head-to-Head Challenges

"Golf Ball Vs" format — battles, stakes, stunts. Adapt: "Sim vs. Real Course" comparisons.

2. ASMR Golf Shots

Pure contact, no talking, slow-mo. Performs 2–4x above average. Sim rooms are perfect (controlled audio).

3. Progress / Transformation

"Day 1 vs. Day 30" from fitness TikTok is exploding in golf. Your Simulator Diaries is perfectly positioned.

4. Stereotype / Comedy Skits

"Types of golfers" drives massive comment engagement and shares. People tag friends.

5. Hot Takes / Opinion Content

Controversial golf opinions generate debate in comments. Algorithm loves comment activity.

Algorithm Optimization

  • Post 7–9 AM and 6–9 PM — Peak golf content windows
  • Reply within 60 minutes — This is when the algorithm decides push tier
  • Watch time > everything. A 30s video watched fully beats a 60s video left at 40s
  • Save rate is the new share rate. Stats breakdowns and tips are "save-worthy"
  • Trending audio within 24–48 hours of emergence gets the biggest IG boost
  • Sound viral on TikTok + <5K IG Reels = your window

016 / Competitive Landscape

Study them.
Differentiate.

CreatorWhat They Do WellHow Tee Pee Golf Is Different
Max & Harry High-energy challenges, "Golf Ball Vs" series, entertainment stunts You bring the indoor/apartment angle + community building. They're entertainment-only; you connect content to real experiences.
GabbyGolfGirl 1v1 matches, product partnerships, personality-driven content You bring the group/community angle. She's solo performance; you're building something people can join.
No Laying Up Premium golf travel, course reviews, documentary storytelling You're the accessible, grassroots version. They review $500 courses; you're building from a free apartment sim.
Random Golf Club Community, events, inclusive golf culture Differentiate through tech (sim data, launch monitor), the progression narrative, and the trip concierge model.

Your Unique Moat

Nobody else has this angle: Building a real golf community pipeline FROM a simulator → local outings → organized travel. The "founder building in public" narrative layered on golf content.
Underserved audience: Black golfers and young professionals. High engagement, loyal following, culturally authentic content that doesn't exist at scale in golf social media.

017 / Monetization Strategy

Content supports
three revenue streams.

Golf Trips

Primary revenue.

Play PR courses on sim monthly → build anticipation.

"Pull Up & Play" guests = first trip prospects.

Group chat → local waitlist → trip bookings.

Every "Simulator Diaries" is implicit: "I'm getting better for the real thing."

Memberships

Community product.

Sim sessions demonstrate what a local Tee Pee Golf chapter looks like.

Building league = membership proof of concept.

When people in other cities say "I want this" — that's the white-label signal.

White-Label Tech

Platform play.

Every community episode = live demo reel for the platform.

League nights show organized sim play at scale.

Film testimonials: "This got me into golf." That's your pitch deck in video form.

018 / Sponsorship Roadmap

Earn trust first.
Monetize second.

MONTHS 1–3 / 0–10K Followers

Build Audience

  • No sponsorships. Pure authentic content.
  • Mention equipment you genuinely use.
  • Build brand relationships by tagging + creating shareable content.
  • Revenue: $0 from social. Growth only.

MONTHS 3–6 / 10K–50K Followers

Micro-Partnerships

  • Golf balls: Vice, Kirkland — "testing on the sim"
  • Apparel: Eastside Golf, Malbon, Greyson
  • Sim/launch monitor brands
  • Local courses: Free rounds for content
  • Revenue: $200–500/post or product exchange

MONTHS 6+ / 50K+ Followers

Brand Deals

  • Equipment: "Testing the new [club] on the sim"
  • Golf travel companies
  • Lifestyle: Beverages for league nights
  • Tech: Golf GPS apps, swing analysis tools
  • Revenue: $500–2,000/post
Remember: The real money is always the trips and platform — social is the engine, not the product. Sponsorships are a bonus, not the goal.

019 / Content-to-Revenue Timeline

Six months.
Content → revenue.

MonthContent FocusRevenue Goal

  • No pricing in any content
  • No "returning travelers" language — brand is early stage

  • Engagement rate: 0.48% (Reels 3:1 vs feed)
Posting times: 7–9 AM (morning energy) and 6–9 PM (after-work). Reply to all comments within 60 minutes of posting. 15 min/day minimum engaging with other golf creators' content.
The Blueprint Is Ready

Start filming.
